How will my ETF investment be taxed?

Smart ETFs are listed Portfolio Investment Entities (PIEs). As a listed PIE, each fund pays tax on taxable income at a flat rate of 28%. In general, you do not need to include this income in your own tax return.

If you are a New Zealand tax resident and currently pay tax at a lower rate than 28%, you may be able to claim some of this back. For more information, please check with a tax adviser.
